I started Ojewellery in 2021 — but the real story starts much earlier than that.

I have been selling online for over 22 years, since the dial-up days of eBay when buying second hand felt like an adventure and sustainability was something I lived before it had a name. Back then I was a mechanical design engineer, passionate about giving quality things a second life.

Life had other ideas.

The turning point

My eldest son was born with complex needs. In the years that followed, I sold our cottage, moved to North Wales, and found myself, just after my second son arrived, suddenly alone with a baby, a disabled toddler, a house that needed everything, and very little in the bank.

eBay became my lifeline. Not a side hustle, not a hobby, a genuine way to build something sustainable around caring responsibilities that no traditional employer could accommodate. I sold anything that wasn't nailed down. I learned everything by doing. I made mistakes, adapted, and kept going.

eBay gave me the flexibility no traditional job ever could. It gave me back my independence at the moment I needed it most.

Building something with purpose

Over the years I learned to source well, sell smart, and build a business that worked around my life rather than against it. I joined the Resilient Retail Club, discovered fulfilment solutions, diversified across platforms, and gradually found both my footing and my focus. When the products I'd been selling were no longer available, I had to adapt. I asked myself what I truly wanted to create and offer — something meaningful, not just commercial.

The answer was jewellery. Specifically: jewellery that means something. Pieces designed around natural gemstones, symbolism, and the moments that matter. Jewellery that arrives ready to give, removes the stress from gifting, and holds genuine worth for the person who receives it.

Ojewellery Ltd was founded in 2021. We joined the Good Business Charter. In 2026 we introduced recycled sterling silver across the coin necklace range. Every piece is designed in the UK, all the engraved necklaces are handmade by Ojewellery. Every order arrives gift-ready.

Ojewellery today

We have now served over 20,000 customers across our website, eBay, Etsy, Amazon, and Debenhams. Our range has grown from a handful of birthstone pieces to over 500 designs — including more than 80 engraved sterling silver coin necklaces celebrating British wildlife, ocean creatures, safari animals, pets, birth flowers, and zodiac signs.

Everything we make is designed with the same question in mind: would I be proud to give this? If the answer is yes — the gemstone is natural, the quality is right, the packaging makes the moment feel special — it earns its place in the collection.

What we stand for

A few things matter to us enough to put them in writing:

Natural gemstones. Every stone in our collection is natural and traceable to country of origin. We don't use synthetic stones.

Recycled silver. Our entire coin necklace range is made from recycled sterling silver. A small choice that matters.

Hallmarked gold. Every gold piece over 1g is hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay Office. You know exactly what you're buying.

Responsible packaging. FSC-certified packaging from an audited supplier. Gift-ready by design, not by accident.

Community matters

I am a host of the Manchester eBay sellers meetup, and I genuinely believe that independent sellers do better when they share what they know. The years of learning, the mistakes, the pivots, the things that worked, are worth passing on.
